Ergin Ataman has been the latest name to come up in NBA rumors coming from the EuroLeague and the European basketball scene. Ataman is perceived as a potential candidate for assistant coaching jobs in the NBA, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowksi.
The veteran coach is a back-to-back EuroLeague champion with Anadolu Efes. He led the team to two close-fought victories vs. Olympiacos and Real Madrid in Belgrade’s Final-4 few days ago. He will be coaching Turkish National Team this summer in the 2022 EuroBasket.
The flamboyant head coach has created a system in Efes which gives a lot of liberties to his superstar players, namely Vasilije Micic and Shane Lakrin. The 56-years-old head coach has won pretty much everything in the European level.
He won the FIBA Saporta Cup, the FIBA EuroChallenge, the EuroCup, and five Turkish league championship titles. Ataman might have turned some heads in the other side of the Atlantic.
