Draymond Green reacts to Stephen Curry’s injury; calls Marcus Smart’s play ‘unnece

Draymond Green shared his thoughts on the injury of Stephen Curry in the game vs the Boston Celtics on Wednesday.

Curry suffered a left foot injury and exited the game early. He went to the locker room and didn’t return.

Afterwards, Golden State head coach Steve Kerr said he respected Marcus Smart, but his play was ‘dirty’.

On the other hand, Green didn’t echoe Kerr’s comments. He said he was expecting Smart to make that play, because he plays tough. However, he called it ‘unnecessary, not dirty’.

“I would expect Marcus Smart to make that play. He plays hard. I can’t call that a dirty play. As unfortunate as it is.

If it was a dirty play I would have went and dove into his head. I had a great look on the play. I was right on top.

Maybe unnecessary but that is the most that I can call it. Unnecessary. I can’t call it a dirty play,” Draymond Green told media, including Hedgeout.net, afterwards.

After having an MRI, Curry sprained a ligament in his left foot and will be out indefinitely. However, X-rays came back negative, so there is no fracture or major damage.

Draymond Green made his return to action after a two-month absence. He will need a couple of weeks to return to full form. However, with Curry out until the end of the regular season, the Warriors are expected to give more playing time to Green.
