Doncic says he’s “feeling good” ahead of Game 3 between Mavs and Jazz

Luka Doncic has been sidelined with a calf injury, but Wednesday practice delivered some good news for the Dallas Mavericks’ fans. Doncic participated fully in practice and he hopes to be ready to get back in Game of the Mavs-Jazz series.

Doncic went down with a calf injury on April 10 during the regular season finale vs the San Antonio Spurs. He said he was “feeling good” when he played some 1-on-1 on Wednesday, but the Mavs did not do any live scrimmaging during the practice.

“We shouldn’t rush anything, but step by step, I think I’m doing a lot,” Doncic told reporters Wednesday. “I’m getting ready.”

“I do not know if I’ll be 100 percent. I think that’s tough right now, but If I’m ready and there is no risk of injury, I’ll be out there,” Doncic continued.

The Western Conference first-round series is tied as it shifts to Salt Lake City. The Mavs evened the series with a 110-104 win in Monday’s Game 2, led by guard Jalen Brunson, who scored a career-high 41 points.

The latest news on his injury fuels a cautious optimism that he could be available for Game 3 or 4 of the series. His return, even if he’s not a 100 percent, could revert the tides and bring balanced star power back in the Utah-Dallas series.

“Playoff basketball is so fun, especially playing at home with the crowd,” Doncic said on his experience in the first two games sitting in the sidelines.

“Sitting out, watching the game, it’s way more stressful than playing the game. I don’t know how, but it is. I just miss basketball. I know it’s only been two games, but I miss it so much.”
