Reporting from Philadelphia
Doc Rivers explained how important the return of Joel Embiid was for the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 3 vs the Miami Heat.
The superstar big man played very well on both ends and helped the Sixers defeat the Heat (79-99) and remain alive in the series (2-1).
“A lot. I mean, just his presence, obviously, to start the game. His energy, his rebounding. His ability at the basket. I’ve said it all year, you could see his timing was off a little bit.
But his presence defensively, I really don’t – I don’t think he gets enough credit how good of a defensive player he is and how much he helps us. And I thought tonight, it was a lot of that,” Doc Rivers told media afterwards.
Joel Embiid went for 18 points and 11 rebounds in 36 minutes on the floor. This was his first game back, after a facial injury he suffered in Game 6 vs the Toronto Raptors.
The series remains in Philadelphia, with Game 4 taking place at Wells Fargo Center on Sunday.
