Darvin Ham will be the new head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers and the official announcement is now expected.
A person with knowledge of the decision said Ham accepted an offer to take over the 17-time NBA champions. At the same time, LeBron James took to social media to share his excitement and welcome Darvin Ham.
So damn EXCITED!!!!!!!! Congrats and welcome Coach DHam!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 #LakeShow💜💛 — LeBron James (@KingJames) May 28, 2022
This will be the first head coaching job for the 48-year-old coach, who was an assistant coach of the Milwaukee Bucks.
Ham spent two years with Los Angeles (2011-2013), working as a player development assistant coach.
Since then, he spent nine years working alongside Mike Budenholzer in the Atlanta Hawks (2013-2018) and the Bucks (2018-2022).
Darvin Ham will replace Frank Vogel, who led the Lakers to the 2020 NBA championship and parted ways with the franchise in mid-April.
