Luca Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks are growing to be one of the best teams in the Western Conference.
In their latest win against the Golden State Warriors, Jason Kidd and his squad put up a great performance, fueled by a 41-point game from Luka Doncic. The Mavs’ superstar was named Player of the Month for February on Thursday.
For Dallas, it was the second win vs the Golden State Warriors in four days and their ninth victory in the last 11 games. Spencer Dinwiddie, who joined the team at the trade deadline, was a key element for another Dallas’ great performance.
The vet guard finished with 17 points and seven assists. He had seven crucial points in the fourth quarter to offload some of the offensive burden from Luka Doncic’s shoulders.
In six games with the Mavs, Dinwiddie averages 14.5 points on 58.6 percent shooting from the field and 44 percent from deep. He shot only a 37.5 percent from the field and 31 percent from deep through 44 games with the Wizards.
“’I’m not surprised,” Doncic said on Spencer Dinwiddie resurgence with the Mavericks. “I thought it was going to take a little bit longer. He’s a great player, and he’s a great fit for us.”
In the 107 minutes that Doncic and Dinwiddie played together so far, the Mavericks are outscoring opponents by almost 14 points per 100 possessions. In those minutes, Dallas scores 119.2 points per 100 possessions.
The Mavericks defensive composure was present again in the fourth quarter. Dallas kept Stephen Curry to zero shots during the crucial fourth quarter as they weathered the storm in the third period, where Golden State shot 71 percent and scored 37 points.
Curry and Klay Thompson combined for 16 points during that stint. However, in the fourth, Dallas forced five turnovers and committed just one. Even when Warriors tied the game at 104-104, the Mavs responded well and improved their season record against Golden State to 3-1.
