Los Angeles Clippers have agreed to a two-year extension with veteran forward Robert Covington, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Woj reported Covington signed a two-year deal worth $24 million.

Covington was traded by the Blazers alongside Norman Powell to the Clippers last February. The Clippers acquired Covington and Powell in a deal for Eric Bledsoe, Justise Winslow, rookie Keon Johnson and a 2025 second-round draft pick.

Covington averaged 10.4 points and shot 45% from deep over 23 games with the LA franchise. The 31-year-old “3&D” forward was set to be an unrestricted free agent this summer. Covington instantly became a huge part of the teams’ formidable defense.

He was also a factor in offense, shooting 69.6 percent from corner threes since his trade to the team in February, per Andrew Grief of LA Times. Covington’s stop with the Clippers marked his fifth different team since entering the NBA in 2013-14.

He also played for the 76ers, Timberwolves, Rockets, and the Blazers. He was part of All-Defensive First Team back in 2018. The LA franchise will also have to figure out a way to keep starting center Ivica Zubac, who is set to be a free agent this summer.

The Clippers were eliminated in the Play-In Tournament after losing to the Minnesota Timberwolves and New Orleans Pelicans.
