CJ McCollum explains why it’s tough to guard Stephen Curry

New Orleans Pelicans scoring guard CJ McCollum faced Stephen Curry multiple times in the playoffs and he’s one of the players who can address adequately the way you have to guard the future Hall of Famer in a game.

“It’s very tough,” McCollum said to of the Golden State Warriors guard, per Jarrod Castillo of NBC Sports Bay Area.

“You have to throw different bodies at him; this isn’t a guy you can just guard with one person,” he continued. “He’s a galaxy, he’s a planet, he’s a solar system. Everything revolves around him.”

McCollum has described perfectly what it is like to play against the Warriors’ superstar. Nobody better encapsulates the three-point revolution that changed the way NBA games are played better than Curry.

He operated in newly explored areas on the court making the defenses change the way that they defend against shooters. That ability makes life much easier for his teammates because it’s exhausting for defenders to guard the Warriors’ superstar.

Earlier this year, Curry broke the all-time 3-point record in Madison Square Garden, and teams, as a whole, are attempting more 3-pointers because of Curry. The same goes for the Warriors, as they won four championships with the superstar guard as their leader.

The latest came last season, when Curry won his first NBA Finals MVP while leading Golden State to a victory over the Boston Celtics in the 2022 NBA Finals.
