Houston Rockets bigman Christian Wood is expected to draw enough interest this offseason. According to Kelly Iko of The Athletic, there are numerous NBA teams that could make a move for the versatile big (h/t to clutchpoints).

The 26-year-old had another big year for the Rockets this past season and now that he’s nearing the end of his current deal. The Rockets could decide to trade him, considering the team remains in a rebuilding state.

The Rockets finished with the worst record in the NBA this past season with 20 wins through 82 games. Wood will be entering the final year of his contract this coming season and the Rockets might opt to re-sign him.

However, Wood and his expiring contract could be a valuable asset as Houston will continue going young and building around Jalen Green and the player they will pick at no.3 of the 2022 NBA Draft.

Wood appeared in 68 games and averaged 17.9 points, 10.1 rebounds, shooting 50.1 percent from the field and 39.0 percent in 4.9 attempts per game from beyond the arc. Wood could be an important part of a winning squad with his offensive skill set.

If Houston is uncertain on his long-term fit, or if the two sides cannot come to a financial agreement on his next contract, it makes sense for the Rockets to pursue trades.
