Chris Paul could possible return to court after almost one month as he could be available for Suns’ mid-week game vs Minnesota, per Sam Amick of the Athletic.
Prior to the All-Star weekend, the veteran superstar was ruled out for 6-8 weeks with a thumb injury. Nothing is set in stone just yet, but Paul could be back before the expected date.
The 36-year-old point guard took part in pregame warm-ups on Sunday prior to his team facing the Sacramento Kings. He was also seen shooting almost 10 days ago in Suns’ practice.
We could see Chris Paul as soon as this week. Some sources close to the situation wouldn’t even rule out his return for Wednesday’s game at Minnesota, @sam_amick writes. More: https://t.co/Akfk3nBn5b pic.twitter.com/XV5vKRIAJ8 — The Athletic (@TheAthletic) March 21, 2022
Paul wasn’t slated to return before April 3, but, he seems to be expected to make his return even sooner.
The Suns are 10-4 since Paul was sidelined and have built a healthy lead in the Western Conference standings. The 17-season veteran and 12-time All-Star was averaging 14.9 points and 10.7 assists on the season prior to being injured.
Point-guard duties have largely rested on the shoulders of Cameron Payne, Devin Booker and Aaron Holiday. In his last 10 games played, Payne is averaging 14.2 points, 9.5 assists and four rebounds over 30.4 minutes.
Phoenix has two days off before facing the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.
