Boston Celtics are the only team that swept their first-round playoff series (4-0). Their accomplishment is much bigger, considering they were facing the Brooklyn Nets.
The “Greens” outclassed the Nets in almost every statistic category and have established themselves as a top contender in the East.
Jayson Tatum, averaging 29,5 points and 7,25 assists per game, was the key figure for the Celtics’ sweep. Followed by Jaylen Brown in scoring (22,5 ppg) and Marcus Smart in passing (7 assists per game), Boston gave no space to Brooklyn to react.
Kevin Durant was the only actual threat (26,3 ppg), while Kyrie Irving was great in Game 1, scoring 39 points. But, his performance fainted on the following games.
Ben Simmons missed the entire series, the rest of the team never posed a real threat, thus concluding the efforts of Brooklyn in what was a turbulent season.
The Celtics continue to play at top form, terrifying their opponents. They had an outstanding 26-6 in their last 32 regular season games, further improving their record to 30-6 after the sweep.
Their next obstacle is the reigning champions, Milwaukee Bucks, who also are in a good form. The Bucks dominated the Chicago Bulls (4-1), despite the absence of Khris Middleton. The All-Star forward will remain at pits in the series with Boston.
In my point of view, the Celtics will make it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals in a relatively easy way. This team has an exceptional build up and the potential to win the championship and remain at the central stage of the NBA for the years to come.
