Boston Celtics appears to receive starting center Robert Williams back sooner than it was expected. Williams will make his return in Game 3 vs Nets, barring any setback, Adrian Wojnarowski reports.
Williams suffered his injury on March 27, when he had 13 points and 10 rebounds in Boston’s 134-112 home win against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The dynamic center is enjoying a career-best season averaging 9.9 points, 9.6 rebounds and 2.2 blocks in 29.7 minutes per game.
He was in the Defensive Player of the Year conversation at some point during the regular season. Williams will fortify Boston’s already dominant defensive play.
The Celtics were 11-10 without Williams in the lineup but are off to a 2-0 start in the playoffs. Williams intends to play limited minutes in Saturday’s game vs Nets.
Boston up 2-0 on first-round series vs Brooklyn with Horford and Theis playing solid in their respective role. The next two games will take place in Brooklyn.
Barring a setback, Boston Celtics center Robert Williams III intends to return in limited minutes for Game 3 vs. Brooklyn on Saturday, sources tell ESPN. If those minutes go smoothly, the expectation is that he’ll resume a significant minutes load for Game 4 on Monday. — Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) April 22, 2022
