Celtics beat Heat in Gm7; advance to the NBA Finals

Jayson Tatum, who was named Eastern Conference Finals MVP, led the way with 26 points, Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart each had 24 and the Boston Celtics defeated the Miami Heat 100-96 to earn their spot in the 2022 NBA Finals.

Jimmy Butler missed what would have been a go-ahead 3-pointer with about 17 seconds left, and the Celtics never trailed in tghe game as they started the with a 32-17 lead in the first quarter.

Butler led the Heat with 35 points and Bam Adebayo added 25 points on what it would be the seasons’ finale for Miami. An 9-0 run, capped by a 3-pointer from Max Strus with 51 seconds left, got the Heat within 98-96.

The Celtics kept the composure the rest of the way and earned their second Game 7 win in this year’s postseason. In addition, the Celtics became the first team to get three road wins over Miami in the same playoff series.

Now Boston, which returned to the championship contention for the first time since 2010, will face the Warriors in the Finals. The Game 1 of the NBA Finals will take place in San Francisco on June 2.
