Cavs’ Jarrett Allen out indefinitely with fractured finger

Cleveland Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen suffered a finger contusion during the Cavs’ 96-104 win over Toronto Sunday night.

However, that will not be the injury that will keep him out for a while. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the All-Star big suffered a fractured finger, and he will be sidelined indefinitely.

That’s another big injury blow for the playoff bound Cavaliers. Cleveland is already missing Collin Sexton since the first weeks of the season.

Allen is having a breakout season, he made his first All-Star team and is averaging 16.3 points and 10.9 rebounds a game. The Cavs are outscoring opponents by 2.8 points when Allen is taking the floor.

The Cavaliers sit as the No. 6 seed in the East, three games up on the Raptors and avoiding the play-in tournament.

They will need to keep their composure for the final stretch of the season. Prior to the All-Star break, Cleveland missed Darius Garland for several games due to injury.

At some point, they saw two guards going out with season ending injuries in Sexton and Ricky Rubio, who left the team via trade. They’re still without Rajon Rondo and Caris LeVert, who are recovering from injuries.

Allen also got kneed in the quad tonight during Cleveland’s win over Toronto, but was diagnosed with a broken finger that will now require further evaluation and sideline the star center. https://t.co/cxXy2MaBia — Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) March 7, 2022

Despite all that, the Cavs remained focused as a team, and they have put up some good runs of basketball play to be a top-tier team in the East.

In the latest game, the Cavs were able to slip past the Toronto Raptors to keep their distance from the Canadians and the play-in tournament.

With Allen out, Evan Mobley is expected to be the starting center, while Kevin Love will be moved to the starting lineup, forming a flexible combination of shooting, defense and veteran leadership.
