Bulls’ Patrick Williams reportedly targeting a return next week

Patrick Williams will be ready to make his return next week, Shams Charania of the Athletic reports.

The Chicago Bulls forward will play his first game since he underwent wrist surgery in October. He has only played five games so far.

In five games, Williams averaged just 6.6 points and 2.2 rebounds in 25 minutes per game. He will be able to offer a boost in his team’s defense ahead of the last few games of the regular season.

Williams was assigned to the Bulls’ G League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls, to continue ramping up for his return.

The promising forward’s absence hindered Chicago’s defensive plan. Bulls’ defense has experienced a huge drop in the last few weeks.

Chicago is just 3-7 since the All-Star Break and is now just the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference after previously sitting atop the conference.

Patrick Williams is the latest player that is slated to return from action after a lengthy absence. Alex Caruso has also returned from a long period of recovering, missing about two months of action.

Chicago is hoping to make a deep playoff run. If they get back healthy on time, then they could be among the favorites in the East alongside Miami, Milwaukee and Philadelphia.
