Bucks win series vs Nets in Giannis’ historic night

Giannis Antetokounmpo made history on Thursday and helped the Milwaukee Bucks win the season series vs the Brooklyn Nets.

The “Greek Freak” went for a game-high 44 points (14/21 shooting), 14 rebounds and six assists in 40 minutes on the floor. Giannis hit the game-tying three-pointer at the end of regulation to force overtime (110-110).

He also made a pair of free throws that handed the Bucks the victory in the extra period, as Kevin Durant missed the game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer (120-119).

The two-time NBA MVP also set a new franchise record with the 44 points he scored. More specifically, he surpassed the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (14,211) and now is the Bucks’ All-Time scoring leader with 14,216 points.

Thanks to its win, Milwaukee improved to 48-28 and is just half a game behind East leaders Miami Heat (49-28). The Bucks also clinched their spot in the playoffs and won the season series with the Nets (3-1).

For their part, the Nets dropped to 40-37 and are now tied with the Charlotte Hornets and the Atlanta Hawks for eighth in the East. Brooklyn has secured its place in the play-in tournament and will need a win or two to reach the postseason.

Giannis and the Bucks return home on Friday to take on the Los Angeles Clippers. For their part, the Nets will battle the Hawks in a high-stakes game on Saturday.
