Jevon Carter plans to sign a deal with the Milwaukee Bucks, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported earlier today. Carter is expected to clear waivers on Wednesday.
Carter spent the last one and a half years in Brooklyn. He was released Monday after the Nets signed Goran Dragic earlier this week. They announced the deal with the veteran guard earlier today.
Carter averaged around 12 minutes a game for the Brooklyn Nets. He might see an increased role with the Bucks. He will help the reigning champions by adding more depth to the guard position.
Carter averaged 12 minutes a game for the Nets this season, and adds to Bucks guard depth that took a hit with the Donte DiVincenzo trade to Kings and Pat Connaughton hand surgery. Carter played with the Suns (2019-21) and Grizzlies, who drafted him No. 32 overall in 2018. The Bucks are hoping to see the 26-year-old guard making an impact on their undermanned perimeter rotation.
With the injury of Pat Connaughton and the trade of Donte DiVincenzo to the Kings, Milwaukee has only veteran George Hill as a back-up guard.
Carter had a significant role in the Nets’ rotation prior to the deadline. Earlier this month, he dropped 21 on the Boston Celtics, shooting 7 of 16 from the court.
He still is a great perimeter defender and if he’s able to maintain a good shooting form from outside, he could help the Bucks win back-to-back titles.
The Bucks are standing at 36-24 ahead of the second half of the season. They’re hoping to be able to secure a Top-3 finish by the end of the regular season.
