Bradley Beal shares his thoughts on future with Wizards

Bradley Beal has recently joined Draymond Green in the “The Draymond Green Show” podcast and spoke on his future with the Washington Wizards.

Beal has once again revealed he wants to win in Washington and build his legacy as a player with the Wizards’ franchise. Beal could become a free agent this summer, if he opts out of his current deal next offeason.

The Wizards’ superstar sent a clear message to the team’s front office ahead of a crucial offseason.

“I have to have that understanding with Washington that we are in the pursuit of winning,” Beal said, via CBS Sports.

“…You want to be able to play for something. Right? I want to play in meaningful games. Right? I want to be playing in late June. That’s what I want.”

The Wizards have been lost to mediocrity despite making the playoffs last season as the 8th seed. They have only two postseason appearances in the last five years.

If Beal opts out, he is eligible to sign a five-year, $246 million contract with the Wizards. The most any other team is allowed to offer this summer is four years and $182 million.

As a result, many suitors are rumored to be interested in the superstar guard. Washington will do anything to keep Beal in Washington. They hope to build around his talent and that’s evident by their latest moves.

During the trade deadline, the Wizards acquired Kristaps Porzingis from the Dallas Mavericks. The Wizards will need to continue in this direction to keep their star happy.

“I think people don’t understand that I want to do that here. And my mindset is like, OK, why can’t I do it here? There’s a lot of other teams that are out here doing it,” Beal said.

He cited the success of the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks, plus the Memphis Grizzlies and Phoenix Suns.

“They developed their guys. They’re putting the pieces together. So it’s a possibility and it’s, I mean, shoot me if you want, but that’s my mindset.”
