Bogdan Bogdanovic expected to make full recovery after knee surgery

Atlanta Hawks guard/forward Bogdan Bogdanovic underwent a right patella tendon to address knee inflammation, the team announced Tuesday. The Serbian guard will make a full recovery, and he will be ready for the start of the 2022-23 NBA regular season.

That confirms a report late last week that the veteran guard had to undergo the procedure because of persistent discomfort in the knee. Bogdanovic played through the injury during the playoffs.

This announcement confirms the fact that the Serbian will miss the EuroBasket 2022 which will take pace between 1-18 September. It will be the first time since 2013 that Bogdanovic won’t play for his national team in an international competition.

Bogi will make $18M next season with an $18M player option for 2023/24 and could be a trade chip this summer as Atlanta tries to revamp its roster after a middling season that ended with a first-round exit.

Additionally, forward Jalen Johnson underwent a non-surgical procedure on his left knee to address tendinitis. He will rehabilitate over the offseason and is also expected to make a full recovery in advance of training camp.

Johnson appears likely to miss the Summer League in Las Vegas next month. The second-year forward will look towards training camp with hope of receiving rotational minutes in the upcoming season.
