Billy Donovan addressed the current struggles of the Chicago Bulls and the team’s losing skid ahead of the playoffs.
The veteran coach is not concerned about the franchise’s poor performance lately. However, he knows the Bulls should make adjustments en route to the postseason.
“We’re not as bad as we’ve played. But you know what? We probably weren’t as good when we went on an 9-game win streak. The truth is somewhere in the middle.
There’s a fight that you have to have this time of year. Because you’re fighting for margins. When we have these huge losses, Milwaukee and Boston understand the margins.
And they’re fighting like crazy for them. And we’ve gotten dominated on the margins,” Donovan told media, including Hedgeout.net, after the blowout loss to the Boston Celtics (117-94).
This was the third straight loss for Chicago, which dropped to 45-35 and remained sixth in the East. Despite their struggles, they clinched a playoff spot for the first time in 5 years.
However, Chicago has to turn things around as soon as possible. They have won just six of their last 20 games, while suffering back-to-back blowout defeats to fellow East contenders Bucks and Celtics.
In addition, they are 1-14 vs the top four teams in the East and 2-21 vs the top four teams in the East and West.
The Bulls will now take on the Charlotte Hornets (April 8) and the Minnesota Timberwolves (April 10), aiming to build some momentum ahead of the playoffs.
