Both Bayern Munich and ALBA Berlin are one game away from reaching the German BBL Finals after beating Bonn and Ludwigsburg, respectively. With the Utah Jazz star Rudy Gobert in the stands, FC Bayern Munich edged out Telekom Baskets Bonn 82-81.
Othello Hunter made a key free throw with three seconds remaining on the clock to gift a huge win to the Bavarians. Bayern took a 2-0 lead against the top-seeded Bonn and have the chance to close the series at home.
Nick Weiler-Babb led the way for the EuroLeague powerhouse, putting up 18 points and nine rebounds. Sharpshooter Andreas Obst added 17 points and four rebounds. Jeremy Morgan was the leading scorer for Bonn with 17.
ALBA Berlin showed a dominant and at times spectacular performance in Game 2 of the semifinal series, decimating MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg 100-76. The Berliners used a 27-17 fourth quarter to pull away and get a 2-0 lead in series.
Luis Olinde led the winning side with 24 points on 5-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc. Johannes Thiemann followed with 22 points going to the free throw line 16 times and producing 13 points from the charity stripe.
Oscar da Silva added 14 points as ALBA had 18 points in the fast break. Jonah Radebaugh was the leading scorer for Ludwigsburg with 18 points and eight points. The two teams head to Game 3 with MHP Riesen hoping to keep themselves alive at home.
