Anthony Edwards after Wolves beat Clippers: “They were scared to guard me”

Minnesota Timberwolves clinched their place in the postseason for the second time in 18 years with Anthony Edwards and D’Angelo Russel leading the way after combining for 59 points in win vs Clippers.

Edwards, who will play his first playoff series of his NBA career, shared his thoughts on the game and the Clippers’ defense against him.

“I took what the game gave me and that is what they gave me,” Edwards told reporters. “They were scared to guard me, and I took advantage of that.”

The 2020 first overall pick knocked down 10 of his 21 shots, including five of his 11 threes to help Wolves overcome their opponents.

Minnesota overcame several challenges to beat the Clippers. The Wolves overcame a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter with 8:54 remaining in the game.

Moreover, Karl-Anthony Towns was in foul trouble the entire game, and he fouled out with 7:34 left after posting just 11 points.

Minnesota is locked into the No. 7 seed in the West playoffs, and they will take on the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round of the 2022 playoffs.

The teams split the regular-season series, 2-2. The series start on Saturday in the FedEx Forum Arena. It will be the first playoff appearance for the Timberwolves since 2018.

“No one can guard him,” Patrick Beverley told reporters. “I just keep preaching him that to him all season. Credit to him, his hard work and his patience.”
