Alperen Sengun had a great rookie season with the Houston Rockets. The Turkish big will hope to build on that coming back to Houston for individual workouts with the coaching staff of the team.
The 2021 NBA draft selection answered questions about his busy offseason schedule and how good it feels to be back with his teammates. He will spend the next two weeks working out at Toyota Center with teammates and assistant coaches.
“We’re doing tough practices because we’re working with John Lucas, you know, he’s crazy, and his practice is crazy too,” said Sengun, via USA Today Sports. “I did practice in Turkey but not like this, just lifting and running.”
After completing his training program in Houston, he will head back to Turkey to play for the Turkish NT as they prepare for the FIBA World Cup qualifiers. Sengun revealed he’ll be available to play in the 2022 EuroBasket, which will be taking place in September.
The promising big averaged 9.6 points and 5.5 rebounds in 20.7 minutes per through the 72 games he played last season. Stephen Silas hopes that the basketball action this summer will help him grow as a player ahead of the next season.
Sengun is definitely a huge project for the Rockets. The bigman has shown flashes of greatness during his rookie year. He aspires to become the next player to become an NBA star from overseas.
