After 141 playoff games, Al Horford finally got the chance to play in the NBA Finals, as the Boston Celtics defeated the Golden State Warriors in Game 1 (120-108).

Horford was unstoppable offensively and went for 26 points, on 9/12 shooting and 6/8 from beyond the arc.

Afterwards, the veteran big man said he was just ‘grateful for the opportunity’ to compete in the NBA Finals.

“Just grateful for this opportunity. It’s just going out there and playing basketball at the end of the day. That’s just what it is (smiling).

Just grateful to be in this position. God has put me in this position, and it’s something that I embrace and I’m excited about.

Just excited to be able to share this stage with these group of guys. We have a lot of great guys here, guys that have really bought into what we’re trying to do. It’s just fun to see all that come together,” Al Horford told media, including Hedgeout.net, postgame.

Al Horford and the Celtics will now seek to take a clear advantage in Game 2 and come a step closer to their 18th NBA championship.

For their part, the Warriors will try to regroup and respond in order to even the series before moving to Boston for Games 3 and 4.
