Jonquel Jones scored 20 points and the Connecticut Sun beat Las Vegas 97-90 on Thursday night to snap the Aces’ seven-game winning streak. The Sun (7-3) bounced back from an 89-81 loss to the Aces (9-2) on Tuesday night.
DeWanna Bonner added 19 points and helped the Sun to take a 37-22 in the first quarter. Bonner passed the Aces’ head coach Becky Hammon for 14th on the WNBA list with 5,842 career points.
Courtney Williams scored a season-high 18 points and Alyssa Thomas had 16 points and 12 rebounds for Connecticut. Jackie Young scored 26 points for Las Vegas, but appeared to suffering an ankle injury during the fourth quarter.
Young was helped to the locker room, while teammate Chelsea Gray also left late in the fourth after colliding with Natisha Hiedeman. Kelsey Plum had 23 points and eight assists and Dearica Hamby scored 15 points for the losing side.
