Alyssa Thomas scored 23 points and finished with nine rebounds as the Connecticut Sun rallied from a 17-point second-half deficit to beat the Washington Mystics 74-72 in overtime. Thomas scored 14 of her 23 points in the second half.
The Mystics (13-10) committed nine of their 19 turnovers and were limited to seven points in the fourth. Courtney Williams added 15 points, Natisha Hiedeman scored 14 and Jonquel Jones had 11 points for Connecticut (14-7).
Shakira Austin made two free throws to give the Mystics a 17-point lead with about 6 minutes left in the third quarter, but Heideman hit a 3-pointer to a 20-4 run that made it 59-58 with Williams making back-to-back threes.
Heideman made a basket with 4:35 left to give Connecticut a 62-61 lead- the first for the night for the Sun. Ariel Atkins led Washington with 18 points, including 12 in the first quarter. Shakira Austin and Alysha Clark scored 13 apiece.
Cheyenne Parker had 21 points and nine rebounds and the Atlanta Dream beat the Seattle Storm 76-90 Sunday. Atlanta took an 18-32 advantage in the first quarter and held on to the win after making a 13-2 run at the end of the 3rd quarter.
Aari McDonalad and AD Durr had 13 points apiece for Atlanta (10-11). Tiffany Hayes finished with 11 while Monique Billings had six points and 10 rebounds and Rhyne Howard added 16 points and five rebounds on 7-of-12 shooting.
As for Seattle (13-8), Breanna Steward led all scorers with 19 points, while Ezi Magbegor added seven points and seven rebounds. Former WNBA scoring leader Tina Charles finished with just two points on 1-of-6 shooting.
