WNBA: Storm slip past Sky behind Magbegor’s 21 points

With one game in the WNBA schedule, Ezi Magbegor scored 21 points and the Seattle Storm beat the visiting Chicago Sky 74-71 Wednesday night. Breanna Stewart had 13 points and four steals for the winning side.

Magbegor also added six rebounds and four assists for the Storm (2-3). Veteran star Sue Bird added six points and seven assists. Stephanie Talbot had six points and seven rebounds as the Storm out-rebounded Chicago 35-30.

Seattle used a 12-23 run in the second quarter to create separation. They had control of the game with 2:28 remaining in the regulation taking a 74-62 lead. However, Candace Parker scored nine consecutive points for the Skyto cut the lead to 74-71.

The Sky had the ball with 9.1 seconds left, but Allie Quigley missed on a 22-footer in the final seconds of the game. After the loss, the reigning champions fell to 2-2. Azura Stevens led Chicago with 18 points. Parker finished with 11 points and nine rebounds.

For the reigning champions, Emma Meesseman finished with 11 points, while Courtney Vandersloot scored 11 and dished 12 assists for Chicago.
