Arike Ogunbowale hit six three-pointers and finished with 24 points and the Dallas Wings defeated the Phoenix Mercury 93-88 to snap a four-game losing streak. Teaira Cowans had season highs of 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side.
The Wings (7-8) snapped a four-game skid and won for just the second time since an 85-77 win over the Connecticut Sun on May 24. Isabelle Harrison added 16 points, Marina Mabrey 14 and Allisha Gray scored 11 for the Wings.
Tina Charles had 27 points and nine rebounds for Phoenix (6-10) and Skylar Diggins-Smith added 21 points and a season-high 10 assists. The Mercury had won 4 of their last 5 before Friday’s loss to the Wings.
Kahleah Copper had season highs with 23 points and 10 rebounds and the Chicago Sky beat the Atlanta Dream 106-100 in overtime Friday night. Emma Meesseman scored 17 points and grabbed a season-best 12 rebounds, added for the reigning champion.
Allie Quigley also had 17 points, Azura Stevens and Rebekah Gardner scored 15 apiece and Courtney Vandersloot added 11 for Chicago (10-4). Quigley hit three to give the Sky a 99-93 lead about 2 minutes into overtime.
Atlanta (7-8) twice trimmed its deficit to two points but Stevens answered each time. AD Durr scored 21 points and McDonald finished with 20 for the Dream. Cheyenne Parker added 16 points.
DeWanna Bonner scored 15 of her 20 points in the fourth quarter, and the Connecticut Sun beat the Seattle Storm 82-71 Friday night. Bonner also finished with 10 rebounds — giving her 2,501 in her career — four assists and three steals.
Jonquel Jones had 17 points and 14 rebounds Brionna Jones added 19 points and Thomas had 10 points and eight assists for the Sun (12-4). Breanna Stewart led Seattle (9-5) with 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
Sue Bird scored 14 points and Ezi Magbegor added 12 for the Storm. Connecticut has won six of its last seven games and eight of the last 10. The Storm had their four-game win streak, which started after a loss to Dallas on June 5, snapped.
