Elena Delle Donne scored 15 points and the Washington Mystics beat Connectitut Sun 63-71 Sunday night. During the game, the Mystics officially inducted Vicky Bullett, Murriel Page and Chamique Holdsclaw to their first team Hall of Fame class.
Ariel Atkins had 12 points and six assists, while Alysha Clark finished with 10 points and five assists for the winning side. The Mystics (11-7) controlled the game for three quarters leading 41-61 at end of the third quarter.
The Sun (12-5) tried to get back in the game and won 22-10 the fourth quarter, but they could not complete their comeback. For the Sun, Jonquel Jones led with 15 points and 16 rebounds, but she was the only player on her team to score in double figures.
Gabby Williams scored 23 points and the Seattle Storm beat the New York Liberty 81-72 in Sue Bird’s final game in her hometown. New York fell to 6-16 on the season and sits six games back of first in the Eastern Conference.
Breanna Stewart had 18 and Sue Bird finished with 11 in her final game in New York. Marine Johannes led the Liberty with 23 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the field and 5-of-8 from three-point range.
With just over four minutes to play, Bird hit a big three to put the Storm ahead by four (71-67) and then later in the game, the WNBA legend knocked down another dagger to make it a nine-point game (81-72).
