Vincent Collet names France NT squad ahead of FIBA World Cup Qualifiers

France has named a star-studded 16-player group ahead of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers First Round.

With all results counting towards the Second Round, the French NT will look to close strong despite having clinched their place in the next phase.

Vincent Collet has been able to call upon the talents of Theo Maledon and Elie Okobo with Frank Ntilikina and Vincent Poirier also back in the mix.

The last two were part of the team that won the Silver at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The 20-year-old Maledon just completed his second season in the NBA with the OKC Thunder.

He will be joined by teammate Jaylen Hoard, who will make his debut in the national team ranks. Yoan Makoundou also earned his first call-up and he could make his debut.

ASVEL star guard Elie Ekobo, who created havoc with his guard play in the 2021-22 EuroLeague will also be part of the team.

France will travel to Montenegro on July 1 before rounding out their First Round campaign by hosting Hungary three days later after earning a 4-0 record in the previous games.
