Fenerbahce will have to make some tough decisions this summer with the star duo of Jan Vesely and Nando De Colo contracts expiring this summer. Fener’s president Ali Koc was a guest on Turkish television station Beyaz TV on Monday.
The Turkish giants finished a disappointing season in the EuroLeague and missed the playoffs for the first time in many years. As a result, Fener will part ways with current head coach Sasa Djordjevic.
“We got smaller (budget-wise) in the basketball branch, we can’t get any smaller. The situation of Jan Vesely and Nando De Colo will be decided by the new coach if the budget fits, but both of their contracts are expiring,” Koc said (h/t to Eurohoops).
Koc confirmed there’ll be a new head coach ahead of the next season. Nando De Colo, who has been playing for Fenerbahçe since the 2019-20 season, has averaged 11.9 points, 2.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.3 steals.
Jan Vesely, who has been playing for Fenerbahçe since the 2014-15 season averaged 13.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.1 steals in the EuroLeague this season. The veteran big was part of the team that won the title back in 2016.
