Spain head coach names 8 players that will miss 2022 FIBA EuroBasket

Sergio Scariolo, the head coach of Spain, named the eight players that will miss the 2022 FIBA EuroBasket (September 1-18).

Scariolo recently announced the 22-man preliminary roster of the Spanish national team that will prepare for the tournament.

The experienced coach also named the eight players that will miss the EuroBasket, either for personal/family reasons or injuries. These players are Ricky Rubio, Alex Abrines, Santi Aldama, Victor Claver, Dani Diez, Sergi Martinez, Pierre Oriola and Guillem Vives.

Spain will play a total of four preparation matches against Greece in Athens (August 9) and Madrid (August 11) and against Lithuania in Gran Canaria (August 16) and Vilnius (August 18), respectively.

They will then compete in the first two games of the Second Round of the 2023 Basketball World Cup against Iceland (August 24) and the Netherlands (August 27).

Spain will travel to Tbilisi in late August to take on hosts Georgia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Turkey and Belgium in Group A.
