Kostas Sloukas vs Vasilije Micic is a key matchup we should focus on ahead of the EuroLeague Final Four clash between Olympiacos and Anadolu Efes.
The two star guards had a leading role in their respective teams all season long. And their consistent performance was one of the main reasons the “Reds” and the Turks reached the EuroLeague Final Four.
Sloukas will make his eighth Final Four appearance and has lost only once in his previous seven semifinals.
The Greek guard won six consecutive semi-finals (Olympiacos 2012, 2013, 2015; Fenerbahce 2016, 2017, 2018) before losing to Efes with Fenerbahce in 2019.
In 35 EuroLeague games this season, Sloukas has averaged 11.9 points (48.4% shooting, 41.8% from beyond the arc) and 4.9 assists for the Greek giants.
He also hit the game winner vs Efes in Piraeus in early February (87-85), helping the “Reds” maintain a top four push.
For his part, Micic has once again showed why he is Efes’ undisputed leader. Averaging 18.2 points, the Serbian guard captured the Alphonso Ford Top Scorer Trophy for the 2021/22 EuroLeague season.
A versatile player and capable of making the difference on both ends, the 26-year-old guard keeps proving why he is considered an elite guard.
Both Sloukas and Micic are pick-n-roll specialists and are expected to orchestrate their teams’ offense and run many plays.
Their matchup will determine whether Olympiacos or Anadolu Efes will take the upper hand on Thursday’s clash. Another key matchup will be the one between star guard Shane Lakrin and defensive specialist Thomas Walkup. You can read about it here.
