Nikola Mirotic has been the undisputed leader of Barcelona and aims to lead the team back to the top of the EuroLeague.
With the 31-year-old forward taking over offensively, the Catalans advanced to their second straight Final Four. And they now have their sights set on eliminating Real Madrid and competing in their second straight Championship Game.
Nikola Mirotic will appear in his fifth EuroLeague Final Four (2011, 2013, 2014, 2021 and 2022). He has also played in the Championship Game three times (2013, 2014, 2021). However, he hasn’t yet managed to claim the coveted title.
This time, though, things look different. Barcelona enters the Final Four as the grand favorite to win the championship. The “Blaugrana” finished the regular season on top (21-7) and eliminated Bayern Munich in the playoffs (3-2).
And with a deep and versatile roster, the Catalans have a great chance to win their third EuroLeague trophy.
Nikola Mirotic is expected to be the key in the semi-final vs the “Whites”. He has a leading role in the squad, similar to the one Vasilije Micic and Sasha Vezenkov have for Anadolu Efes and Olympiacos, respectively.
Averaging 16.6 points and 5.1 rebounds, on 65.6% shooting and 45.5% from beyond the arc, Nikola Mirotic is also the favorite for the MVP award.
It is also worth mentioning that Mirotic has been one of the best and most consistent players in the EuroLeague since returning to the competition in 2019.
He ranks first among all EuroLeague players over that span in average PIR (20.2); second in defensive rebounds (4.5) and third in points (17.0).
He has also shot the ball with extreme efficiency, too: 61.8% from inside the arc, 39.9% from long distance and 86.7% at the foul line.
Mirotic will be seeking for an identical shooting percentage in the Final Four in his effort to win his first EuroLeague title.
