Barcelona is back for its second consecutive EuroLeague Final Four. Last year, they came up short, after losing to Anadolu Efes in the Championship Game (81-86). In Belgrade, at Stark Arena, they are seeking to celebrate their third EuroLeague trophy.
2021-2022 season recap
Barcelona has been performing great this season. Sarunas Jasikevicius’ guys managed to finish first in the regular season standings, losing only seven games (21-7 record).
They remained unbeaten at their home court until Round 20, where they suffered defeat to Armani Milano (73-75). On an interesting note, only the Italian side and Maccabi Tel-Aviv won the regular season series against the “Blaugrana”.
The Catalans faced Bayern Munich in the playoffs. After Game 1, where Barcelona prevailed over their opponents easily (77-67), the German side managed to “steal” the home-court advantage in Game 2 (75-90).
The series ended up in a Game 5, after both teams won one at Audi Dome. Barcelona then qualified for the Final Four (81-72 win).
Key Stats
Barcelona has been better than its opponents in almost every statistic category. They were scoring 81.4 points per game, while allowing only 75.5.
They were also involved in the highest-scoring game in this year’s EuroLeague so far (111-109 win against UNICS). Their biggest win margin occurred in Round 1 against ALBA Berlin (96-64).
Key Players
Undoubtedly, Nikola Mirotic (averaging 16.7 points in the regular season) has been performing great for Barcelona this season. He was even selected EuroLeague MVP of the month twice, in October and December.
In addition, Brandon Davies (10.1 points) contributed a lot for his team. For his part, Nicolas Laprovittola was a key factor for the “Blaugrana” in the playoffs, averaging 13.4 points.

Final Four
Barcelona will face Real Madrid in the semifinal. They won the regular season series against their domestic arch-rivals (2-0). Should they win, they will compete in their seventh EuroLeague Championship Game.
