Real Madrid is expected to part ways with guard Thomas Heurtel and power forward Trey Thompkins.
The two players don’t practice with the team and will part ways with the club soon. And according to head coach Pablo Laso, this decision is definite and will not change.
“Heurtel and Thompkins aren’t training with the team. It is a technical decision, I have full confidence in the rest of the team.
It is my decision, considering that the remaining 13 players can get the best out of them between now and the end of the season and we are going to be the team we want to be.
The decision that Thompkins and Heurtel won’t return to the team is definitive,” Laso told reporters after the loss to Bayern Munich, via Eurohoops.net.
Real Madrid has been in a free fall lately. Having lost four straight, the “Whites” finished fourth in the standings, at 18-10.
As a result, they will now take on either Anadolu Efes or Maccabi Tel-Aviv in the playoffs, which tip off on April 19. And despite having the home-court advantage, they will not enter the series as the favorite to advance to the EuroLeague Final Four.
