Real Madrid suffered its fourth straight defeat in the EuroLeague and finished fourth in the regular season (18-10).
In their regular season finale, the “Whites” were in control for three quarters vs Bayern Munich and led by as many as 20 points.
The Bavarians made a wild comeback in the fourth, though, and outscored their opponents 13-38 to win the game (88-97). That fourth-quarter collapse dropped Real Madrid to fourth.
As a result, the “Whites” will take on either Anadolu Efes or Maccabi Tel-Aviv in the playoffs. Following their road loss to Crvena Zvezda (93-85), the reigning champions dropped to sixth in the standings, at 16-12.
For its part, Maccabi is fifth, at 16-11, and has one more game to play. The Israelis will host Fenerbahce on Wednesday (13/04).
If they win, they will finish fifth and will take on Real Madrid. If they lose, though, they will fell to sixth and face Armani Milano in the postseason.
The remaining playoffs matchups have already been set. Bayern (8) will play league leaders FC Barcelona (1) and Olympiacos (2) will collide with Monaco (7). The playoffs will start on April 19.
