Real Madrid is hoping to retain Sergio Llull and Rudy Fernandez to its roster for the next season, Marca reports.
The club’s goal is for them to continue another season with a significant drop in their salaries and a role of less weight. Fernandez will become 37 on April 4, while Llull is 34 having a great season as the veteran leader of Madrid.
Both players are under contract only until the end of this season. Fernandez has seen a reduced role in the last few seasons, but, he’s important for the team reinventing himself at the “4”.
Llull is relatively healthy this season, and he has a vital role in the guard play of the Los Blancos.
Real Madrid know how important Llull and Fernandez are as leaders inside the locker room and they wouldn’t want to let them go.
In addition to his future in white, Fernandez wants to participate in the 2024 Paris Games, and become the only basketball player with six Olympic appearances.
