Real Madrid is reportedly interested in Mario Hezonja, according to Marca.com. Hezonja was on the club’s radar from last season(h/t basketnews.com).
Hezonja has been on a contract with UNICS Kazan. He averaged 14.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 14.2 PIR over 25 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games.
On March 22, Russian clubs were officially excluded from the 2021-22 EuroLeague season due to Russia’s invasion. Real Madrid advanced to the EuroLeague Final-4 after sweeping the series vs Maccabi.
He represented Panathinaikos Athens prior to joining Kazan. He played 26 games for PAO in the EuroLeague and the Greek league.
The Croatian forward was drafted 5th overall in 2015 from the Orlando Magic and he has also been a member of three NBA teams.
He played for the Orlando Magic, New York Knicks, and Portland Trail Blazers. He averaged 6.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.3 assists over 330 appearances in the NBA.
