The preliminary round of the 2024 Olympic basketball tournament is expected to move to Lille changing place with the handball tournament, according to L’Equipe.
Per the report, the first phase of the basketball tournament will be played in at the Pierre-Mauroy stadium. The venue in Lille was planned to be used for the handball Olympic tournament.
The Final phase of the basketball tournament is expected to take place at Bercy, Paris. Lille was also the host of the EuroBasket 2016 final phase. However, FIBA was critical of the current plan of the Olympic committee.
FIBA obviously preferring the basketball tournament to be held entirely in Paris. The final decision on the situation is expected on the 12th of July. The committee dropped the original plan, in which the tournament was expected to take place in Porte de Versailles.
