Panathinaikos stuns Bayern Munich for 7th win in EuroLeague

Panathinaikos made a great run in the fourth quarter to stun playoff bound Bayern Munich 80-67 for round 31 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.

The Greens started the game strong and took 26-16 lead at the end of the first quarter with Daryl Macon making two consecutive threes in the last 1:30 of the quarter.

Bayern found its balance in the next two quarters and cut the lead to three (52-55) as the two teams were entering the fourth quarter.

Panathinaikos answered with a 4-0 early in the fourth quarter before Bayern return to the game cutting the lead to one (65-64) with 5:24 remaining the game. In the remaining time, Bayern scored only three points as Panathinaikos run away with a 15-3 run.

Key of the Game: The hosts had eight steals and 15 assists, while they shot an efficient 37 percent from beyond the arc.

MVP: Howard Sant-Roos had his best game in the competition with 15 points, nine rebounds and a game-high PIR of 29.

Next week, both teams will be inactive due to the EuroLeague’s decision to expel Russian clubs from the competition due to the situation in Ukraine. After today’s result, Bayern dropped to 12-11, while Panathinaikos improved to 7-17.
