Panathinaikos officially announced on Tuesday that the club has parted ways with head coach Dimitris Priftis.

This announcement comes just one day after the loss to rivals Olympiacos in the Greek League Clasico (62-68).

Apart from the veteran coach, General Managers Dimitris Diamantidis and Fragiskos Alvertis, technical director Nikos Pappas and president Panagiotis Triantopoulos have also left the club.

Former Panathinaikos head coach Argiris Pedoulakis became the new technical director of the team. Giorgos Vovoras and Ilias Papatheodorou have already emerged as candidates to replace coach Priftis.

The six-time EuroLeague champions have had a disappointing season so far. The “Greens” finished 13th in the standings (9-19), while they lost the Greek Cup to Olympiacos in mid-February.
