EuroLeague and Greek powerhouse Panathinaikos has signed Peyton Siva to a deal until the end of the season, the team announced. The 32-year-old guard won the NCAA championship in 2013 under former Greens’ head coach Rick Pitino.
He was selected as the no.53 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons. He remained in the NBA for two seasons before making the jump to the European basketball stage.
He joined Juvecaserta Basketball during his first season in Europe averaging 13.3 points, 6.5 assists και 2.7 rebounds per game. Then, he signed with German champions ALBA Berlin at the start of the 2016-17 season.
He won two German BBL championships (2020,2021) and played three seasons in EuroCup and two seasons in the EuroLeague. He had 12.9 points, 6.4 assists, 2.6 rebounds και 1.3 steals per contest in EuroCup.
In EuroLeague, he registered 9.8 points, 5.2 assists, 1.8 rebounds και 1.1 steals per game. He moved to NBL in the 2021-22 season to play for the New Zealand Breakers. He returns in Europe with the hope of becoming Panathinaikos’ starting point guard.
Panathinaikos finished with a 9-19 record in the EuroLeague standings far away from an appearance in the playoffs.
