Pablo Laso grateful to Real Madrid; says he hopes to get opportunity in the future

Pablo Laso addressed his departure from Real Madrid citing that the club parted ways with him due to medical reasons. Despite being as successful as Laso was in Madrid the last 11 years, the organization never consulted Laso’s doctors after suffering a heart attack.

“I am really fine,” he underlined, ruling out any lingering issues from the heart attack, which suffered two months ago. “My heart functions normally, it is perfect. It was a mini heart attack, as the doctors explained to me,” (h/t Eurohoops).

Despite all that and the way the relationship with the club ended, Laso is nothing but grateful to Real Madrid and the people that run the team as well as the players and the coaches.

“I think that after 11 years at the club I can only be grateful to the president, the board of directors, and the staff,” Laso noted. “It has been a privilege for me to be able to be at Real Madrid, and I am grateful for allowing me to do what I like the most for 11 years, which is to train and do it in a team at the level of Real Madrid.”

As for the future, Laso is expected to choose carefully where he will coach next after he refused any contact with Crvena Zvezda.

“I am not actively searching for a new team,” he said. “I am not going to coach just to coach. I must be excited about my projects. I love coaching, it’s my life. I hope I get an opportunity, and that opportunity excites me.”
