Pablo Laso became a free agent after parting ways with Real Madrid this summer, but he said that he’s ready to coach again via his social media accounts. Laso left Madrid after 11 seasons and reportedly was in talks with EuroLeague side Crvena Zvezda, per the team’s president (via Eurohoops).
Spanish media outlet Gigantes Basketball reported that Laso has denied any contact with Serbian powerhouse. At no time did any director of the Serbian team approached Laso’s representative and made an offer to the veteran coach.
On July 8, Zvezda announced Vladimir Jovanovic as its new coach. Laso confirmed that his doctors gave him permission to coach again in the professional level and he will be available for any interested side after Real parted ways with him.
He had suffered a heart attack early in the 2022 ACB Playoffs forcing him to stay at the hospital for a couple of days and away from the coaching gig for the remainder of the 2021-22 season.
He led the Whites to a couple of EuroLeague titles in 2015 and 2018, lifted the FIBA Intercontinental Cup in 2015, and won the Liga Endesa six times and added six Copa del Rey titles and six Supercopa titles under his belt.
