Olympiacos triumphs over Panathinaikos in Greek Clasico

Olympiacos’ ferocious start led the Reds to a 101-73 triumphant victory over Panathinaikos. The home side outplayed the Greens in every aspect of the game to secure its sixth win in the last seven games in the EuroLeague.

The hosts took over in the first quarter, making 6-of-8 from beyond the arc. They led 38-13 to finish the first quarter.

Panathinaikos was unable to find a reliable source of scoring in the first half, while the defense was out of sorts, allowing many open shots.

Olympiacos finished the first half ahead by 25 (58-33), with Kostas Sloukas and Moustapha Fall leading the charge.

Panathinaikos found its footing during the third quarter and cut the lead to 14 points before February’s EuroLeague MVP Sasa Vezenkov and Sloukas took over with consecutive baskets for a 15-1 run and a 78-51 lead at the end of the third.

Olympiacos rolled past the fourth quarter to secure a huge victory against its rivals and improve to 18-10 to stay in the top four, while Panathinaikos fell to 7-20.

Key of the Game: Olympiacos had a remarkable start in the derby, putting the game beyond reach with a 38-13 run in the first quarter.

MVP: Moustapha Fall was unstoppable in the paint registering 13 points, on 6-of-7 shooting. He also had six rebounds, five assists and two steals in 17 minutes of play.

Olympiacos will play away from home next week, as they will face AS Monaco (Wednesday) and ASVEL Villeurbanne (Friday) Panathinaikos will host Bayern Munich for Round 31 on Tuesday.
