Olympiacos survived a late thriller vs Monaco at Salle Gaston Medecin (83-87) and re-claimed the home-court advantage in the EuroLeague playoffs.
The Monegasques used a 24-8 run to erase a 15-point deficit late in the third (56-71) and take the lead (80-79). However, the “Reds” closed the game on a 3-8 run of their own to seal the deal.
Four players scored in double figures for the winners, with Kostas Sloukas leading the way with 21 points. On the other hand, Dwayne Bacon and Will Thomas were the top scorers for the losing squad, with 23 and 15 points, respectively.
Olympiacos was unstoppable between the second and the third quarter, outscoring the hosts 35-52. Yet, Monaco turned things around in the fourth, but came up short and suffered a painful home loss.
Olympiacos now leads the series 2-1 and is a step away from advancing to the EuroLeague Final Four. Game 4 will take place on Friday and if the “Reds” win, they will close out the series. Otherwise, if Monaco wins, they will force a Game 5 on Wednesday, May 4.
