Olympiacos rallies in fourth quarter to claim victory over Milan

Olympiacos was able to return from a 12-point deficit to claim a 67-58 victory over Olimpia Milano in a game between top-tier EuroLeague teams.

The Greek club improved to 15-9 and grabbed sole possession of fourth place, sweeping the series against Milan in the regular season. Olimpia remained third with a 17-8 record.

Olimpia controlled the game for three quarters, but, Olympiacos was able to seize control  and claim the win thanks to Kostas Sloukas and Sasha Venzekov.

Sloukas made two threes to allow the ”Reds” to take a six-point lead(56-50) with five minutes remaining in the contest.

Milan failed to score a field goal for nearly 6 minutes as Olympiacos opened a 66-53 margin and closed out the game. Olympiacos made a 28-15 run in the fourth quarter.


MVP: Sasha Vezenkov was the X-factor for the “Reds” leading the team in PIR of 20. He put up 16 points, five rebounds, one assists and three steals.

Key to victory: Milan’s defense allowed 28 points during the fourth quarter as Olympiacos took a 13-point lead to close out the game.

Olympiacos will travel to Munich next week to face Bayern Friday night. Milan will return to Greece to play against Panathinaikos in Athens.
