Olympiacos moves to second place after triumph over Barcelona

Olympiacos survived a late thriller over Barcelona (73-66) and moved to the second place in the EuroLeague standings.

This was the final regular season game for the “Reds”, who improved to 19-9 and 13-1 at home. With that record, Olympiacos can’t drop below the third place on the table. The hosts can finish second if Real Madrid loses to Bayern Munich next week.

On the other hand, Barcelona fell to 21-6, but remained on top. The Catalans have already secured the first place in the standings and will be waiting to see who their opponent will be.

MVP: Shaquielle McKissic was the best player of Olympiacos. The American guard/forward led all scorers with 20 points, on 7/11 shooting.

In addition, he was a game changer defensively and one of the reasons for the “Reds” comeback in the second half.

Key to victory: Olympiacos relied on its defense to win the game in the second half. Playing excellent on the one end of the floor and making clutch plays on the other, the hosts outscored the “Blaugrana” 40-26 to seal the deal.

Olympiacos will return to action on April 19 in Game 1 of the playoffs. On the contrary, Barcelona will host Maccabi Tel-Aviv next week in its final regular season game.
