Reporting from Belgrade
Olympiacos failed to claim the EuroLeague championship, but its fans ‘stole the spotlight’ in the Final Four.
More than 12K fans of Olympiacos travelled to Belgrade to support their team, which was fighting for its 4th EuroLeague title.
And despite the fourth place in the Final Four, Olympiacos players and head coach Giorgos Bartzokas received a standing ovation from their supporters.
Ergin Ataman, Sarunas Jasikevicius, Nikola Mirotic and many more praised the “Reds” fans for the atmosphere they created.
Especially the head coach of Anadolu Efes said the Final Four would have been played in an empty arena without the presence of Olympiacos fans.
The club now has its sights set on next season. As head coach Giorgos Bartzokas told media, including Hedgeout.net, after the end of the tournament, the “Reds” plan to add 2-3 players in the offseason.
The Greek giants aim to remain on top and return to the Final Four next year. EuroLeague is expected to announce soon the host city of the event, with Berlin and Istanbul emerging as grand favorites.
